Chief Executive - David Meates
David Meates grew up in Canterbury and has a wide range of skills from both the health and the private sectors within NZ and the UK.
In his previous role as Chief Executive Wairarapa District Health Board, he led the WDHB through significant and innovative change with particular emphasis on creating a clinically and financially sustainable health model.
David's other former roles include Manager of Grey Base Hospital and senior health management positions in Northland and Hawkes Bay.
He was previously Chair of the DHBs' National CE Group and has carried a wide range of national responsibilities including leadership of a number of workforce negotiations covering both senior and junior doctors.
David joined Canterbury DHB as Chief Executive in February 2009 and the West Coast DHB in July 2010.

Human Resources Manager - Kim O'Keefe
Kim started out her career as a Registered General and Obstetric Nurse and then later completed her University studies in Psychology before focusing on Human Resources Management. The West Coast is familiar to Kim. She emigrated from England with her family to live in Greymouth and completed her high schooling here before moving to Wellington to commence her nursing studies.

General Manager, Human Resources - Allan McGilvray
Allan McGilvray was appointed General Manager Human Resources in January 2009. Allan has significant experience working with organisations in strategic consulting, senior human resource roles and executive capacities across major national and multi-national organisations in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the United Kingdom.
Allan holds tertiary qualifications in human resource management and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and the Australian Institute of Management.

General Manager, Planning and Funding - Wayne Turp

Wayne has been General Manager of Planning and Funding since 2005.
Over the 15 years prior to this he worked in a number of NZ health and disability sector roles encompassing service planning, funding and operational management including the South Island Shared Service Agency, the Ministry of Health, the Health Funding Authority and Auckland Healthcare.
Before this he worked in wide range of UK health and social services settings including a community development agency, probation and after care, social services, a vocational training centre and with a health and social services consortium led housing trust.
His particular expertise includes service planning and development and organisational management. He currently sits on the National Service and Technology Review Advisory Group (NSTR), Te Kokiri (national mental health service steering group) and is a member of the Pharmacy Advisory Group.
He was previously the Chair of the South Island Regional Forensic Clinical Governance Group, a trustee of the Framework Trust and was the Chair of Hackney and Homerton Joint Planning Group.
Wayne's personal interests include tramping and other outdoor activities, movies, music, (slow) food and wine. He has a tertiary qualification in horticulture (parks and recreation management) but has subsequently participated in range of professional development courses and post graduate papers in health service management.

Executive Director of Allied Health - Stella Ward
Stella Ward – is the new jointly appointed WCDHB and CDHB Executive Director of Allied Health.
Stella comes to the position after two and a half years as the Director of Allied Health at the Counties Manakau DHB.
As part of her new role, Stella will provide strategic leadership for allied health, technical and scientific professionals in both regions and will be part of the Executive Management Teams for the two district health boards.
"Allied health professionals have a unique approach to people's health and look at someone in the context of who they are and how they interact with the world. It's a whole person approach. Allied health professionals work as part of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team. There's a sense of team work with the patient and their families being an integral part of this," Stella says.

Director Of Nursing and Midwifery - Karyn Kelly
Karyn Kelly began her nursing career at the West Coast District Health Board in 1991, following the completion of her Registered Nurse training at the Wellington Polytechnic School of Nursing.
Karyn completed her BN through Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology in 2001 and is currently completing a Master of Nursing through Otago University. A varied career within the DHB has included paediatrics, surgical, aged care, medical, critical care, occupational health, clinical nurse specialist: cardiology, and Associate Director of Nursing: Clinical Practice Development.
Karyn is Director of Nursing and Midwifery.

Hospital Advisory Committee (HAC)
The function of this Committee
The function of this Hospital Advisory Committee is to monitor the financial and operational performance of the hospitals (and related services) of the DHB.
The advice of this Committee must be consistent with the New Zealand Health Strategy.

Community and Public Health Advisory Committee and
Disability Support Advisory Committee
CPHAC
Role:
The role of this Committee is to give the Board advice on the needs and any factors the Committee believes may adversely affect the health status of the resident WCDHB population, and priorities for use of the health funding provided.
Aim:
The aim of this Committee is to provide advice that will ensure that the following maximise the overall health gain for the population of the West Coast:
- All service interventions the WCDHB has provided or funded or could provide or fund for that population.
- All policies the WCDHB has adopted or could adopt for the population of the West Coast.
The advice of this Committee must be consistent with the New Zealand Health Strategy.
DSAC
Role:
- Provide the West Coast District Health Board with advice on the disability support needs of the resident WCDHB population and;
- Priorities for use of the disability support funding provided.
- To set priorities for the use of health funding provided.
Aim:
The aim of the Disability Support Advisory Committee's advice is to ensure that the following promote the inclusion and participation in society, and maximise the independence, of the people with disabilities within the WCDHB's resident population:
- The kinds of disability support services the WCDHB has provided or funded or could provide or fund for those people.
- All policies the WCDHB has adopted or could adopt for the population for those people.
The advice of this Committee must be consistent with the New Zealand Health Strategy.
