Dr Paul McCormack is the Chair of the West Coast DHB. Until recently, Dr McCormack has been a Christchurch GP and GP leader.
He was a founding director of the Christchurch 24 Hour Surgery in 1986, of the general practice organisation, Pegasus Health in Christchurch in 1992 and was a founding member of the GP Council of the NZMA.
Now, he is an independent health consultant with a number of recent clients including the Ministry of Health, Canterbury Community Pharmacy Group and Southern Cross Health Care. Last year, he chaired a Ministerial review panel considering Access to High Costs Medicines in NZ.

Peter Ballantyne, the Board Deputy Chair, is a Chartered accountant. Formerly a partner in the national accountancy firm of Deloitte, he retired from this position and now acts in a consultancy role. During his time with Deloitte, Peter was actively involved in both financial accounting and auditing including internal auditing within the health sector.
Peter was for several years also involved in the Aged Care sector being on the Governance Board of the Anglican Care retirement villages, rest homes and hospitals in Christchurch.
Peter is also the Deputy Chair of the Canterbury District Health Board. He chairs their Quality Finance Audit and Risk Committee and is a member of the Hospital Advisory Committee. Peter's appointment to the West Coast District Health Board is part of the Government's policy of greater collaboration between health boards.
Peter's wife Claire is the Diabetic Retinopathy Photographic Screening Service co-ordinator with the CDHB.
His interests include snow skiing and sailing.

Kevin Brown, QSM, JP
Kevin was elected to the West Coast District Health Board in October 2007 and is currently the deputy chair of the Community & Public Health Advisory Committee and Disability Support Advisory Committee.
A born and bred West Coaster, Kevin is retired and lives in Greymouth with his wife Kaye. He is a former mayor of the Grey District and is currently a member of the Grey District Council.
Kevin is patron of Diabetes NZ, West Coast and maintains active contact with many groups on the West Coast. He has a particular interest in the Health of Older People. -

Warren was appointed to the West Coast DHB in December 2007. He is also Chair of the West Coast DHB Hospital Advisory Committee.
Originally from Wellington, Warren moved to the Coast with his family in late 2005 to take up a role with Development West Coast (formerly West Coast Development Trust) and is currently Chief Operating Officer.
Warren's previous roles and experience have been in the banking and finance sector, both in the private and public sectors. Other current governance roles include director of various Development West Coast subsidiaries and member of the West Coast Regional Transport Agency with a previous role as Chair of Tourism West Coast. -

Helen was elected to the West Coast District Health Board in October 2007. She is chair of the West Coast District Health Board Quality Finance Audit and Risk Committee.
Helen's previous work with the Canterbury West Coast Sports Trust (Sport West Coast) gave her a perceptive insight into the health system.
Coming from a non-medical professional background, Helen adds an important perspective to the health board, without any medical conflicts of interest.
Helen believes that the planning and actions that the health board takes now are critical to improve the population's future health status and secure the long term future of the health service on the West Coast. She also believes that each of us must improve physical activity and nutrition – the old adage "Prevention is better than cure".

Mary Molloy was elected onto the Board of the West Coast DHB in 2010, having previously been a member of the Hospital Advisory Committee. She lives in Hari Hari, dairy farming with husband Lindsay.
An active community member Mary has been chairwoman of the Board of Trustees for South Westland Area School, adult literacy teacher and is involved in the Hari Hari Community Association - their health spokeswoman in recent years.
Mary coordinated fundraising which raised $26,000, to purchase a sophisticated defibrillator / monitor for the local health clinic.
Mary believes in a safe, reliable health system that gives all Coasters the ability to stay living here on the Coast. -

Sharon is an elected member in her second term. Previously member of Community and Public Health and Disability Support advisory committees. Currently deputy chair of Hospital Advisory Committee.
She, along with her husband and 5-year-old son, host a bed & breakfast in on a small farmlet in Camerons.
Sharon previously worked in the health service (16 years), parliamentary service (9 years) and current Paroa Tennis Club committee, coach and life member. Previous Lottery Grants Board community committee member and she has a keen interest in sport, both at player and coach levels.
Sharon is passionate about the community she chooses to live in. The nature of our area offers a diverse range of training opportunities which will be captured with the new Coast rural training centre.
Community members and those considering coming here, need to be able to invest in, and live on the Coast knowing that specialised health care is here for the patient, family, traveller and workplace.
She prides herself in being an honest and open communicator with good networks within our communities. -

Elinor has considerable experience of the health sector having been employed for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse and Midwife including holding management roles during this time. Elinor currently works in the Disability sector as Manager of the West Coast Disability Information Service.
This is Elinor’s first term as an elected member of the West Coast District Health Board, having previously served as an appointed member of the board of Coast Health Care Ltd prior to the 2001 elections, and a board member of Crown Public Health Ltd. She has been a member of the Disability Services Advisory Committee throughout this time, at present Deputy Chair, and is also currently a member of the Community and Public Health Advisory Committee. She was a board member of the West Coast Primary Health Organisation until March 2008 and continues as a member of the West Coast PHO Clinical Governance Committee. Elinor has also spent nine years in local government as a Councillor for the Grey District.
Elinor has previously served on the Executive Committee of the New Zealand Federation of Disability Information Centres for 7 years, almost 5 of those years as the National Treasurer. She was the founding Chairperson of the West Coast Neonatal Trust and continues in this role. -

Doug Truman has returned to the West Coast DHB having been a previous board member for six years before becoming chairman in 1989 and then commissioner for the DHB during the change over to the board becoming a Crown Health Enterprise.
Doug has had a broad range of leadership roles in West Coast affairs, serving as chairman or member of bodies including the Grey County Council, Grey Harbour Board, West Coast Development Council, West Coast Regional Council, West Coast Development Trust and also as West Coast Civil Defence controller for over 30 years.
Doug was awarded a QSM for public service.
He is currently Deputy-Mayor of the Grey District Council and is owner/manager of Paper Plus Greymouth, having been a foundation leader of the nationwide Paper Plus group.
He is a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management. -

Susan has whakapapa ties to Te Tai o Poutini (West Coast) through the Westland hapū (sub-tribe) Kāti Māhaki ki Makaawhio.
Her tribal affiliations are to both Te Waipounamu (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe, Waitaha) and Te Tai Tokerau-Northland (Te Roroa, Ngāti Whātua, Ngā Puhi). She is employed by Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio, one of the two Ngāi Tahu Papatipu Rūnanga organisation based here on the coast and has a public service and administration background, as well as involvement with a number of different voluntary, community and māori organisations.
Susan has served as an appointed member of the West Coast District Health Board since October 2006 and was appointed to the Canterbury District Health Board on 6 December 2010.

Hospital Advisory Committee (HAC)
The function of this Committee
The function of this Hospital Advisory Committee is to monitor the financial and operational performance of the hospitals (and related services) of the DHB.
The advice of this Committee must be consistent with the New Zealand Health Strategy.

Community and Public Health Advisory Committee and
Disability Support Advisory Committee
CPHAC
Role:
The role of this Committee is to give the Board advice on the needs and any factors the Committee believes may adversely affect the health status of the resident WCDHB population, and priorities for use of the health funding provided.
Aim:
The aim of this Committee is to provide advice that will ensure that the following maximise the overall health gain for the population of the West Coast:
- All service interventions the WCDHB has provided or funded or could provide or fund for that population.
- All policies the WCDHB has adopted or could adopt for the population of the West Coast.
The advice of this Committee must be consistent with the New Zealand Health Strategy.
DSAC
Role:
- Provide the West Coast District Health Board with advice on the disability support needs of the resident WCDHB population and;
- Priorities for use of the disability support funding provided.
- To set priorities for the use of health funding provided.
Aim:
The aim of the Disability Support Advisory Committee's advice is to ensure that the following promote the inclusion and participation in society, and maximise the independence, of the people with disabilities within the WCDHB's resident population:
- The kinds of disability support services the WCDHB has provided or funded or could provide or fund for those people.
- All policies the WCDHB has adopted or could adopt for the population for those people.
The advice of this Committee must be consistent with the New Zealand Health Strategy.
