How is a Pathway Chosen?
Introducing This Page
Find out on this page how Pathway's are chosen by our dedicated team.
Choosing a Pathway
Pathways are selected by the Patient Journey Steering Group in line with overall DHB strategy and based on the recommendation of internal staff and external providers. A number of factors are taken into consideration when choosing a pathway to review.
Efficiency – where the process for delivery of care may need streamlining or increased collaboration.
Safety and Risk – ensuring services that experience difficulty maintaining patient safety or managing clinical and organisation risk are addressed appropriately.
Value For Money – that services experiencing difficulty working within allocated budgets or high cost services are using resources in the most cost effective way, or are being funded appropriately.
Inequalities – recognising the importance of minimising or eliminating disparities in access to treatment and that Maori health needs are met.
