SPACE

for Anaesthetists

As much wide open space as you can handle.

The West Coast of New Zealand is a region offering a relaxed lifestyle, both personal and professional. No big city hassles here, just a laid back way of life and the chance to live and work in a close, friendly community.

As one of our team of Anaesthetists, you'll be working at Grey Base Hospital in Greymouth. As the base hospital for the West Coast District Health Board, it is a well appointed general hospital with a modern theatre complex providing general, orthopaedic and obstetrics and gynaecology surgical services to a catchment area of 33,000 people. The level of facility is well above that normally expected with its population base. There is a comprehensive road and air retrieval and transfer system, as well as a modern CCU supported by our anaesthetic specialists. You'll carry out pre and post-operative assessment, anaesthesia for surgical lists, other procedures requiring anaesthesia and support for the CCU, ED plus patients requiring transfer, and will work a forty hour week with rostered on-call.

The hospital environment is friendly and supportive and our staff work in small teams with a lot of interdependence. There are supporting services from general surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, physicians and obstetrics and gynaecologists, as well as visiting specialists from the tertiary units in Christchurch. We're keen to see you continue with training and development and we'll give you time to meet colleagues at other hospitals.

You will have, or be eligible for, provisional vocational or vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

We'll pay relocation expenses for you and your family and, to help you settle in, we'll provide a fully furnished house for you for four weeks.
