Furthermore there is a the ever-so-popular downloadable "The Great Little Cookbook", a down-to-earth and free cookbook that presents simple ways to choose, prepare and serve healthy and inexpensive food.

The goal of Feeding our Futures
To increase the proportion of parents and caregivers adopting strategies to achieve a healthy diet for children aged 8 - 12 years.
What is the aim of community partnerships?
To support community groups and organisations to develop and implement initiatives/programmes that promote healthy eating.
Application criteria
Community groups and organisations that meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for
a grant:
- Meet one or more of the Feeding our Futures programme objectives
- Target high-risk populations (Maori, Pacific, high deprivation areas)
- Demonstrate experience and skills to provide nutrition programmes
- Demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with other providers
Programme objectives
The sponsorship is intended to assist with the achievement of one or more of the following objectives:
- Increase parents and caregivers' motivation to provide a healthy diet for their children.
- Increase parents and caregivers' confidence in their ability to provide a healthy diet for their children [self-efficacy].
- Increase parents and caregivers' knowledge of strategies that can be used to ensure a healthy diet.
- Increase parents and caregivers' skills to implement strategies that ensure a healthy diet.
- Strengthen support for parents and caregivers.
- Increase the proportion of parents and caregivers who eat a healthy diet [rolemodelling].
- Ensure Maori receive equitable benefit from the Feeding our Futures programme.
- Ensure Pacific peoples receive equitable benefit from the Feeding our Futures programme.
Important Points
It is important to note that:
- an evaluation report will be required either during or at the conclusion of your initiative
- HSC reserves the right to audit how the funding has been used
- the initiative may be evaluated as part of the overall HSC evaluation process
- applications and references must be received no later than 18th of January, note: funding for programmes running February through to April 2008, a further funding round will commence in April 2008
- sponsorships will not be granted to assist with financing costs associated with running an organisation, such as staff and equipment costs
- sponsorships will not be granted to projects already receiving funding / products from companies associated with the following industries:
- tobacco
- alcohol
- food, specifically products not supported by the food and beverage classification guidelines.
- schools are ineligible to apply

Successful applications:
If successful you'll be sent a contract, a pro-forma invoice, and an evaluation form. When FOF receives your signed contract (must be signed by the head of your organisation) and a correct and complete invoice we will pay you 75% of the total sponsorship fee. The remaining 25% will be paid after you have completed the sponsored event or programme and FOF has received a correct and complete evaluation form and invoice.
You may be contacted to provide further information, as successful project information may be used for Feeding our Futures promotional purposes.
What is the amount?
Funding of up to $5000 is available per initiative.
Please be advised that applications seeking more than $5000 will not be considered.

Please note: Faxed or incomplete applications will not be considered.
When will you hear back from us?
We will endeavour to get in contact with you regarding the outcome of your application within 15 working days of receiving it.
If your application is unsuccessful, we will advise you in writing.
Please note that funding is limited. Hence not all eligible programmes will be funded.

Referee Form
Applicants supply this form to the referee with a copy of their completed application. Referees are the applicant's local HEHA Project Manager or the relevant person from the DHB in their region.
The Referee needs to complete this form and post it directly to 'Feeding our Futures'.
They do not return the completed the form to you, but send it straight to the HSC.

The Great Little Cookbook
Hints and Healthy Eating on a Tight Budget
It was Work and Income frontline staff who first suggested that families would benefit from a down-to-earth book that showed simple ways to choose, prepare and serve food that was healthy and inexpensive.
It is the partnership of the Nelson Marlborough and West Coast District Health Boards with Work and Income's Regional Office in Nelson that has brought this suggestion to fruition.PDF document, 1.20 MB
