The West Coast DHB wishes to advise that for the next two weeks they will have only limited or no Obstetric & Gynaecology cover available. This situation is caused by a combination of existing commitments, illness and no locum cover being available.
Arrangements have been made with Canterbury DHB to provide services in Christchurch. This will involve patients at high-risk of complications needing to re-locate to Christchurch. Those patients affected will already have been advised by their Lead Maternity Carer.
Reasonable travel and accommodation costs will be met by the West Coast DHB.
There will also be no birthing at the Kawatiri Unit in Westport during this time.
