Buller Health is being praised for the efforts they have made in conjunction with the Outreach Immunisation Service in increasing the immunisation coverage for the children of the Buller area.
Through their efforts, more Buller children are being immunised and fewer are overdue for their scheduled vaccinations. The long-term effects of this will see fewer children presenting to the doctor with preventable childhood diseases.
Immunisation for babies and children is due at 6 weeks, 3 months, 5 months, 15 months, 4 years and 11 years.
Immunisation has proved to be safe and highly effective at reducing the occurrence of once common diseases such as polio, tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough.
Buller Health is now one of the lead West Coast Practices for Immunisation coverage.
