New Standby Generator Commissioned

Patients and visitors to Grey Base Hospital will notice some changes over this weekend 12 & 13 July as a new standby generator for the hospital is commissioned. The most obvious change will be times where the lighting is off or reduced in different departments at different times over the weekend and there will be short periods when some services will not be available.

Alternate power supplies have been arranged to ensure that essential equipment continues to function during this time.

The upgrade of the hospital's power supply is essential as the hospital requirements have outgrown the old generator's capacity.

General Manager of Corporate Services, Wayne Champion, urged the public to be considerate to staff over this time period as computer services and other systems would be disrupted.

The new 750KVA Emergency Generator will improve on the services delivered by the Hospital, due to it having the ability to completely power the whole hospital during power outages. The generator also comes with a new fuel supply which has the ability to keep it supplied with diesel for up to a week. The upgrade will ensure that the hospital's X-Ray, CT scans and computer systems will be able to continue working uninterrupted should a power outage occur.
