Fresh Future Appeal

In 2008 the West Coast DHB is fortunate in being invited to become one of the recipients of the 2008 Fresh Futures Appeal. The appeal is run by the Progressive Enterprises family of supermarkets in August and September for paediatric care in various NZ hospitals.
The West Coast portion of the appeal will be launched at Parfitt Ward, Grey Base Hospital at 11 am on Wednesday 6 August. The Appeal runs across Foodtown, Countdown, Woolworths, SuperValue and FreshChoice stores and support offices nationwide, with staff organising a broad and imaginative range of fundraising activities.
As the Appeal aims to support kiwi kids and their families, maternity and paediatric wards at Grey Base and Buller hospitals will utilise the funding for equipment in their areas.

In 2007 the appeal raised over $1 million, which was divided among five different hospitals. Young patients benefited from equipment for Dunedin Hospital and Waikato Hospital; the new Kidz First Community Clinic for Kidz First Children's Hospital in Auckland and a new Acute Assessment and Short Stay Unit at Wellington Hospital.
