Change in Food, Cleaning, Orderlies and Grounds Contract

The West Coast DHB wish to announce that they have selected new providers of Food, Cleaning, Orderlies and Grounds services from 1st October 2008.

Four providers qualified to submit tenders for the final stage of the process which involved detailed analysis of their service capability as well as analysis of cost and checking of service provision at other hospital sites.

The contract for the provision of cleaning, orderlies and grounds services has been awarded to ISS Facility Services NZ and the contract for provision of food services has been awarded to Spotless Services NZ. The contracts are for three years with the right of renewal for an additional two years.

General Manager - Corporate Services, Wayne Champion thanked the DHB's existing provider, OCS Ltd for their 9 years of service to the DHB.

There are contractual provisions in the Service and Food Workers Union collective agreement to protect the positions of those OCS Health employees who wish to be transferred from OCS to the new providers, which enable them to do so on their current terms and conditions.

Factors taken into account in the decision include quality of services and alignment with the DHB's strategic direction as well as cost.
