There will be some delays to surgery this week at the West Coast District Health Board's Grey Base Hospital as all theatre staff await clearance regarding their MRSA status.
Following last week's disruption to scheduled surgery, tests on staff to determine whether they are free to continue their work in the operating theatres are not yet all available. Those test results should be available mid week.
Surgery on Tuesday 9 September has had to be postponed while awaiting these test results. The four patients affected will have their surgery rescheduled as soon as possible.
To date there have been no examples of cross-infection detected amongst staff or patients and no illnesses as a result.
