Portable Monitor Gifted To Improve Patient Care

Joel George, West Coast District Health Board Chief Executive, recently received the gift of a portable Dash 3000 monitor from the Franz Josef Glacier Community Trust.

Treasurer of the Trust, Cushla Jones presented the monitor on behalf of the community, dedicating the gift to the pioneers of South Westland.

The monitor was purchased with $10,000 from the Community Trust and has already been used many times in the support of acutely ill patients in the Glacier country. This gift has considerably improved the ability of local health providers to care for patients as well as improving the quality of monitoring during the sometimes prolonged journey time to Grey Base Hospital.
