Fresh Future Appeal launched!

The West Coast portion of the 2009 Fresh Future Appeal was launched at McBrearty Ward, Grey Base Hospital today. The appeal is run by the Progressive Enterprises' family of supermarkets and Dick Smith stores throughout New Zealand in August and September for paediatric care in various NZ hospitals, with staff organising a broad and imaginative range of fundraising activities.

Appeal organiser, Ruth Krippner and West Coast District Health Board chief executive Joel George both expressed appreciation for the support already received and highlighted the real difference that the appeal had already made for West Coast children and their families using hospital facilities.

Westport Fresh Choice owner, AJ Power recognised the difference that improved equipment and facilities made a real contribution towards reassuring parents who were often under stress when a child was unwell.

An important fundraising project as part of the appeal (announced at the launch) was a "Splash for Cash" where individuals and organisations are able to sponsor an individual to go down the hydroslide at the new Grey District Aquatic Centre on Friday 18 September.

Members of the public are also able to support the appeal by making donations or buying tickets in a national raffle at Fresh Choice, Super Value and Dick Smith stores on the West Coast.

Grey Base Hospital is one of ten hospitals to benefit from the Fresh Future Appeal.
